APPENDIX A - Classes
SMS 3D Location
|
Class Name: SMS 3D Location
Subclasses
This DRM class is concrete and has no subclasses.
Definition
An instance of this DRM class specifies a coordinate within the
Geocentric Solar Magnetic (SMS) 3D SRF.
See [ISO/IEC 18026] for a complete definition.
Primary Page in DRM Diagram:
Secondary Pages in DRM Diagram:
This class appears on only one page of the DRM class diagram.
Example
-
SMS provides a convenient spatial reference frame for representing
-
magnetopause and shock boundary positions
-
magnetosheath and magnetotail fields
-
magnetosheath solar wind velocities
(since the orientation of the magnetic dipole axis
alters the otherwise cylindrical symmetry of the
solar wind flow).
FAQs
- What kind of data is ordinarily represented in SMS?
SMS is quasi-inertial in that it rocks about the
solar direction on both yearly (23.4 degrees +- 11.2
degrees) and 24 hour (+- 11.2 degree) cycles.
Constraints
Component of (two-way) (inherited)
Inherited Field Elements
This class has no inherited field elements.
Notes
Fields Notes
