Part 1: Functional specification
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1.1
aggregating object
object that contains other objects (components)
3.1.2
Basic Latin character
character from U+0020 to U+007E as defined in ISO/IEC 10646-1
3.1.3
component object
object that is contained by an aggregating object
3.1.4
constraint
semantic condition or restriction (see ISO/IEC DIS 19501-1)
3.1.5
data model
description of the organization of, and relationships between, data in a manner that reflects the information structure
3.1.6
enumerant
one of the values of an enumerated data type
3.1.7
environmental data
integrated set of data elements, each describing some aspect of an environment and the elements or events expected there
3.1.11
level of detail (LOD)
alternate representations of an object at varying fidelities based on some criteria
3.1.12
metadata
data about data (defined in ISO 19115).
3.1.13
MIP level
one of a hierarchical set of images each representing the same conceptual picture
NOTE The set of images consists of one image at full resolution and other images at down-sampled resolutions. This is often referred to as a MIP-map. See [FOLEY].
3.1.14
model
physical, mathematical, or otherwise logical representation of a system, entity, phenomenon, or process
3.1.15
property
characteristic of an object
3.1.16
representational polymorphism
technique where alternate representations of the same data serve different needs
3.1.17
SEDRIS abstract transmittal format
general organization, structure, and allowable content that is required for all external representations of SEDRIS transmittals (defined in ISO/IEC 18023-2)
3.1.18
SEDRIS transmittal format (STF)
binary encoding of the SEDRIS abstract transmittal format defined in ISO/IEC 18023-3
3.1.19
selector
one of the values allowed by the definition of a selection item data type
3.1.20
texel
single element of an image used as a texture
3.1.21
texture
image or a set of images applied to a surface representation to depict detail
3.1.22
tick mark
a point on an axis identified by a specified value
3.1.23
tile
one of a set of identical planar shapes that have been arranged to completely cover an area
3.1.24
transmittal
hierarchy of DRM class instances and other information organized according to the principles described in this part of ISO/IEC 18023
3.1.25
traversal
movement from one object to another through a relationship between them, as in crossing between nodes in graph theory
Table 3.1 lists the abbreviated terms used in this part of ISO/IEC 18023. In the specification of an abbreviation, the letters in the abbreviated term used to form the abbreviation are presented in upper-case and other letters are presented in lower-case with one exception. When the abbreviated term includes another abbreviation that is used to form the abbreviation for that term, all the letters of the included abbreviation are presented in upper-case even if all of the letters are not used in the formed abbreviation.
