SHUTTLE RADAR TOPOGRAPHY MISSION (SRTM)
The mission is in response to 1995 decisions by VCJCS & JROC recognizing “…the value…of a common understanding of the battlefield…the major inhibitor …is availability of digital terrain…”
SRTM will collect data over 80% of the Earth’s landmass (60 deg N - 57 deg S)
NIMA will provide this data to its customers as Digital Terrain Elevation Data, Level 2 (DTED 2)
