APPENDIX B - Constraints
Colour Table Size

Definition

For a given <Colour Table Group> instance G with table_size = k, each <Colour Table> component T of G shall have k <Primitive Colour> components. <Colour Table> components of a <Colour Table Group> instance are free to have different types of <Primitive Colour> components from other <Colour Table> components.

EXAMPLE  Some components use <Specular Colour> instances; some do not.

Rationale

This is a requirement in order to allow the <Colour Table> instances within a <Colour Table Group> instance to be interchangeable.

Example

  1. A <Colour Table Group> instance contains three <Colour Table> components: one for an OTW view, one for a RADAR view, and one for an infrared view. All three <Colour Table> instances contain 234 <Primitive Colour> components. Entry 234 in each <Colour Table> instance is a <Primitive Colour> instance for the representation of "granite" in the three different domains.
